How to Convert PDF Files on Windows, Mac, and Mobile

Choose a browser-based or desktop workflow that fits your device and document.

Choose a method based on the output you need. Exporting a document to PDF preserves a page layout; turning a PDF into Word or Excel reconstructs editable content. The same browser tools can serve different devices, but uploads, downloads, and result viewers vary.

Choose the Output Format

Use PDF to Word for editable paragraphs, PDF to Excel for tables, or PDF to JPG for complete page images. Export from the original Office application when you have its editable source and want a PDF.

Check whether source text is selectable. Image-only scans require OCR before useful editable-text conversion. PDFreevert's ordinary format converters do not supply that missing text layer.

Convert in a Browser

  1. Select the required task from the tool directory.
  2. Choose a local file or a supported cloud or public-URL source shown in the workspace.
  3. Review accepted formats, size limits, and task options. Keep your source separately.
  4. Start processing and allow the upload to finish. On mobile, keep the browser available during transfer.
  5. Download the output and inspect it in an application that supports its real format.

On a phone, a cloud item may need downloading before upload. A sharing link is not always the actual file. Use the browser download list and the device file manager to locate the output, rather than assuming it went into the photo gallery.

Use Desktop Export When Suitable

Office applications on Windows and macOS can export supported files to PDF. Check page breaks, print areas, orientation, and fonts before export. Microsoft's PDF export guidance explains the application-specific options.

Print-to-PDF can make a visual copy, but may alter links, forms, or other interactive features. Use document export when those features matter and reopen the result in the recipient's viewer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does mobile conversion change the output format?

No. The selected format remains the same; access and viewing workflows differ between devices.

Can I upload confidential documents?

Review file security and your organization's requirements. Use an approved offline application when uploads are not permitted.

Should I keep the original?

Yes. It is your reference for review and for another export if the first result needs correction.
