Common questions about PDFreevert

Seven focused answers based on the service's current features and limitations.

How can I use PDFreevert to convert a file to PDF for free?

Open the PDFreevert tool that matches your file type. Options include Word to PDF, Excel to PDF, PowerPoint to PDF, JPG to PDF, OpenOffice to PDF and eBook to PDF. Select a supported file from your device or a cloud source, initiate the conversion and download the result when it is ready. These tools are currently available to use for free without creating an account, and PDFreevert does not add a watermark.

Is it possible to convert a PDF to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG or PNG online?

Yes. PDFreevert offers dedicated tools for converting PDFs into various formats, including Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), PowerPoint (.pptx), JPG and PNG. You can also extract embedded images or create a PDF/A-2b archival copy. The quality of the conversion depends on the source file: text-based PDFs generally produce more editable results, whereas complex layouts, uncommon fonts and image-only pages may not be reproduced exactly.

Is it possible to use PDFreevert without installing any software or creating an account?

Yes. PDFreevert runs through your web browser and does not require you to install an application or create an account. As conversion work is performed by PDFreevert's server-side processing service, an internet connection is required. The minimum supported browser versions are Chrome 80, Edge 80, Firefox 114 and Safari/iOS Safari 15.

Is it safe to use PDFreevert to convert private PDF files online?

PDFreevert transfers files via HTTPS/TLS. The uploaded source files and generated results are temporarily stored in Cloudflare R2, which automatically encrypts objects and their metadata at rest using AES-256 and keys managed by Cloudflare. Access to conversion jobs and downloads is controlled using temporary credentials and short-lived signed URLs.

As PDFreevert processes conversions on a server, this does not constitute end-to-end encryption, and the processing worker must be able to read the file while completing the selected operation. Currently, source files expire after 3 hours and generated results expire 3 hours after creation. The cleanup task checks for expired objects at intervals of 1 hour. Expiry and physical deletion are separate events, so PDFreevert cannot guarantee deletion at the exact expiry time.

Further information about file handling, access controls and retention can be found on the PDFreevert Security and Privacy Policy pages.

Is it possible to upload PDF files from Google Drive, Dropbox or via a URL?

Most single-file tools allow you to select a file from your device, Google Drive, Dropbox or a public HTTPS URL. The upload area of each tool shows the available sources, accepted formats and current size limit. Currently, Merge PDF only accepts local batch files, and Redact PDF only accepts local PDFs, so that the browser can safely prepare the required previews.

Can PDFreevert convert scanned PDFs into editable Word documents using OCR?

No, PDFreevert does not currently support optical character recognition (OCR) for scanned PDFs. Our PDF to Word converter is designed for text-based PDFs that already contain selectable text. It can convert this text into an editable DOCX file while retaining images, tables and page structure wherever possible. However, scanned or image-only pages may remain as images or produce little editable text. Therefore, use an OCR tool first if you need text recognition from a scan.

Why is my PDF conversion online slow or stuck?

The time taken for conversion depends on the upload and download connection, file size, page count, embedded images and fonts, document complexity, the selected operation and the number of jobs waiting for a worker. Large Office files, image-heavy PDFs, repair jobs and print-ready processing typically require more processing power than simple text documents. Leave the page open while the job is running. If it does not finish, try a smaller file or contact support, providing the tool name, approximate time and job ID. Do not send passwords, access tokens, signed download URLs or sensitive source files.
